This is a joint project inbetween me and a friend of mine, we decided to build a fully modular analog synthesizer during the autumn/winter of 2005.

We never got going with the project until we decided one day that "now, we're going to do it". We went out to look for material in the street to build it from but ended up in my basement where someone had thrown away a real ugly 80's IKEA bookshelf. We carried the parts to my apartment and started working...

The metal chassi parts and holders for the panels we made out of standard 19" rack parts that i had found real cheap on the local junkyard about two years earlier.

The objectives were to make a sturdy synthesizer following as many standards as possible. All panels are standard-rack 3U high and inbetween 6-12TE wide, connectors are standard 25-pin DSUB. The powersupply we took from a dissected Roland S-50 i got from a friend. Externally, banana jacks and cords are used following the 1V/Octave standard. The banana cords and jacks were also found in massive heaps on an old IBM telephone system (?) on the junkyard.

Since we had no money but a lot of spare time we tried to do as much work our selves as possible. In the end i think we've spent around $75 on this synthesizer and maybe 100-200 hours of work.

The keyboard is a *really* nice 2-contacts per key (expandable to 4-contacts) that we ripped out from an organ someone had thrown away where we have our practice space. Having half-assed several synthesizer constructions earlier i know that having a sturdy keyboard is incredibly important (unless you do midi->cv etc.).

The most schematic designs we used were made by the good people at the Synth-DIY list.

Since the electrodwarf is moving to the big country in the west, the bearded man will take custody of the synthesizer and no further development will be done for a while.
