All testing has been done in an MPC60 model I, not the newer Model II. It is expected that everything will fit properly in both but at this stage I have not been able to test. ---SCSI Card--- The SCSI card differs from the original in that it has two 50pin SCSI ports on it instead of a 26pin connector and 4 power connectors. One 50pin connector is a standard male connector for connection to a cable. If it is desired to use an external 25pin port like the original board, an adapter will be provided. One connector is a right angle female connector. At this point two SCSI/IDE bridge cards have been tested and properly fit and work. We will be supplying several different kits. 1. Board with cables. Supplied: SCSI board. Ribbon cable jumper. Power cable jumper. Standoffs for mounting. No SCSI cables provided. Optional: Power cables one long and one shorter with either 3.5" floppy drive power connec tor or larger drive power connector as needed. 2. Board with cables ( including SCSI ) Same as #1 but with the addition of 50pin SCSI cable to reach back panel and 50/25pin panel mount adapter. 3. Full SD card subsystem. Same as #1 but with the addition of : SCSI/IDE bridge ( acard-7720UW ) 50/68pin SCSI adapter. IDE cable to reach back panel. SD card/IDE bridge. Power cables to hook everything up. Lovingly handmade bracket to mount SD card in 25pin hole at back of unit. 1gig SD card. Explaination of kits. #1 is intended for someone who just needs the SCSI card and the cables and mounts for it. Maybe you already have the SCSI/IDE bridge and CF or SD card reader. #2 is intended if you just want to replicate the functionality of the original SCSI kit. #3 is intended if you have an MPC60 and need everything. I have spent quite a bit of time finding parts that all happily work in the MPC60 and physically fit. The stock power supply seems to be fine to run scsi + ide/bridge + SD card. As I don't expect that many people to be upgrading their MPC60 at this late date it does not make sense to try and get a bracket professionally made by anymore so I form and machine one by hand. I'll have pictures at some point in the future. As OS3.1 is still available from Roger Linn we will not supply it. The original SCSI cards are no longer made so I have no problem making them up but the OS is still sold. --Memory Card-- The memory card is a drop-in equivalent of the original part. The only reason I bothered to make it is I wanted one. My particular MPC60 had been upgraded using Cary's method ( http://blog.retrosynth.com/archives/2006/01/do_it_yourself.html ) but as I have been banging around in it quite a bit during the SCSI project I kept breaking the wires. I only really intend to sell this as an empty board where you locate the memory chips for it although if I run across some I may load up a few. If you just want the bare board ( no sockets or caps ) thats fine too. Oh, I'll include a standoff also as one is needed for mounting. tom@philosophyofsound.com
